SAŠA KRSTOVIĆ and WORMCRAFT research group

In the second lab profile post we present Saša Krstovič’s research group names WORMCRAFT from the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, Serbia.

The team focuses on mealworm and black soldier fly research and specializes in developing and optimizing technologies for edible insect farming using various waste materials. Their efforts contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture while promoting sustainable agriculture and the circular economy. WORMCRAFT has established the first large-scale farm for rearing edible insects in Serbia, serving as headquarters for research in insect rearing, processing, bioconversion, and feed production.

Moreover, the WORMCRAFT research group is dedicated to promoting research and the use of edible insects in both animal and human nutrition. They engage with the community through participation in agricultural and technical innovation fairs, research events, science popularization events, and television programs.
